Service Bulletin Mazda North American OperationsIrvine, CA 92618-29222010-2013 MAZDA3 - DASHBOARD UPPER PANEL SURFACE IS STICKY AND/OR WARPING
2010-2013 Mazda3 vehicles with VINs between:
• Dashboard Sticky Surface - JM1 BL ****** 1000001 to 325492 (before May 7, 2010).
• Dashboard Warping - JM1 BL ****** 325493 to 778739 (before January 12, 2013).
Some customers may complain about either of the following concerns:
a. The dashboard upper panel is sticky.

b. The dashboard upper panel just above the information display (A) is warping, generating a gap (B).
Customers having this concern should have their vehicle repaired using the following repair procedure.
NOTE: A dashboard upper panel removal video has been developed to assist you with repairs. Viewing the
video prior to the repair will give you a better understanding of the dashboard upper panel removal.

1. Verify customer concern.
2. Remove the dashboard upper panel (A). Refer to MS3 online or Workshop Manual (section 09-17 DASHBOARD UPPER PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION).

Last Issued: 09/09/2014 3. Remove the installation bolt for the passenger – side air bag module.
4. Disconnect the connector of the passenger – side air bag module.
5. Remove the screws from the dashboard upper panel (B).Page 3 of 5

Last Issued: 09/09/2014 Detach the harness clips of the dashboard upper panel as shown in the below figure (with full-auto air conditioner).
6. Disconnect the solar radiation sensor (with full-auto air conditioner) connector (A).
7. Remove the solar radiation sensor (with full-auto air conditioner).
8. Remove the dashboard upper panel from dashboard upper panel frame.
9. Remove the passenger – side air bag module.
10. Install in the reverse order of removal.
