WRX/STI TURBO INLET HOSE
041407
Thank you for purchasing the PERRIN Inlet Hose. Persons experienced in the installation and proper operation of Subaru engines should only
perform installation of this part. Please read through all the instructions before performing the installation.
SPECAIL NOTES:
• The use of a factory service manual is highly recommended. These can be purchased or downloaded online at http://techinfo.subaru.com.
• http://subaru.spx.com is a place to buy OEM tools.
• Due to the PERRIN inlet hose being larger diameter than the OEM inlet hose, it may touch on the intake manifold and power steering
pressure line. This is completely normal and nothing to worry about. The 5 layer silicone hose is very resistant to abrasion type wear.
Parts Included with the PERRIN Turbo Inlet Hose:
• (1) PERRIN Turbo Inlet Hose
• (1) 2.75” aluminum coupler
• (1) 1.25” aluminum coupler
• (1) Size 24 hose clamp
• (1) size 36 hose clamp
• (1) size 48 hose clamp
• (3) 3/8” 90 degree connectors
• (1) 1/2”-3/8” reducer
• (1) 3/8”-5/16” connectors
• (1) 1/2” tee
• (13”) 1/2” fuel hose

Removing original inlet hose intact (can be reused)
1. Follow factory service manual for intake manifold removal.
2. Remove original inlet hose.
3. Install PERRIN inlet hose.
4. Re-install intake manifold in reverse order.
5. See instruction on page (2) for hose connections and routing to the PERRIN inlet hose.
Removing original inlet hose in pieces (cannot be reused)
NOTE: THIS PROCEDURE ALLOWS REMOVAL OF FACTORY INLET HOSE WITHOUT REMOVING INTAKE MANIFOLD.
HOWEVER THE FACTORY INLET HOSE WILL BE DESTROYED IN THE PROCESS!
1. Follow factory service manual for removal of intercooler, intake system, power-steering pressure line, and throttle body.
2. Disconnect all hoses from factory inlet hose, and remove retaining bolt connecting inlet hose to manifold.
3. Cut and remove crankcase vent bung (closest to turbo on inlet hose). 04+ cars will have a PCV diagnosis connector on
this bung. Simply unplug sensor and remove bung from inlet hose.
4. Remove retaining bolt from the purge control solenoid. (For clearance only, will be reinstalled)
5. Loosen clamp at turbo, and carefully remove factory inlet hose.
6. Re-install purge control solenoid and tighten bolt.
7. Slip PERRIN inlet hose under manifold and over turbo. (NOTE: A BENT AWL WILL AID IN SLIPPING THE NEW HOSE
OVER TURBO. DO NOT PUNCTURE HOSE WITH AWL!)
8. Install aluminum coupler into BOV return connection on inlet hose, and tighten clamp. Install BOV return hose to
aluminum coupler and make sure to install OEM clamp.
9. Re-install in reverse order throttle body, power-steering pressure line, intake system, and intercooler. NOTE: The
pressed in aluminum coupler in the large end of the inlet hose can be removed. This will allow for many different
fitments with different intakes.
10. See instruction on page (2) for hose connections and routing to PERRIN inlet hose.
2004+ IMPREZA WRX/STI SUPPLIMENTAL INSTRUCTIONS
2004 and newer WRX/STI’s have an additional sensory plug attached to the inlet pipe. When this plug is connected to the
factory inlet pipe an electrical connection is made telling the ECU that a PCV hose is attached to the inlet hose. The PERRIN inlet
hose requires bypassing this connector. Again this is not an “active” sensor. The connector only completes a circuit.
After inlet hose is installed:
1. Remove grey PCV Diagnosis connector and hose leading to crankcase vent. The crankcase vent is located on the block
under the turbo. (see picture)
2. Inside the PCV Diagnosis connector, find the jumper pin and remove it using needle nose pliers. This pin is pressed
lightly into the electrical side of the connector.
3. Find the harness/plug that was disconnected from the factory inlet hose, and place the jumper pin that is removed form
the grey PCV connector into the female pins in the harness/plug. Use electrical tape to secure in place.
4. See instruction on page (3) for hose connections and routing to the PERRIN inlet hose.
HOSE ROUTING
1. Cut right side valve cover vent hose (leading from cylinder head to steel crossover tube on intercooler)
below retaining clip and install 1/2” tee to bridge both ends of hose.
2. If not removed earlier, remove crankcase vent hose from crankcase vent tee located on engine block, below
turbo outlet. (see picture)
3. Install Supplied 9” long 1/2” Hose onto crankcase vent tee.
4. Connect 1/2” hose to remaining spigot on 1/2” tee installed in step 3. Make sure to route hose away from
any moving parts. (e.g. Throttle linkage.) Trim hose if necessary.
